Ken bought this car brand new on March 4, 1972 from Lorne Brown Motors in Clinton, where Ken lived and had his construction business. He traded in his 1970 AMC Javelin 2-door hardtop, paid $1,890 and drove this car home! Ken used it as a family car for 11 years but when he went to trade it in, the dealership wouldn’t allow anything for it so he kept it.
By 2017 the paint had become faded, so Ken had a body shop in Exeter, owned by a friend, repaint it in acrylic enamel in the original colour. While the car didn’t need any restorative bodywork, Ken removed and reinstalled all of the chrome trim himself, since he used to restore Cutlasses.
This Cutlass has a 350 Oldsmobile Rocket V8 engine that produces 250 hp, with an automatic transmission. The Oldsmobile 350 has larger pistons with a shorter stroke, resulting in a higher torque engine than the regular Chevrolet 350 which has small pistons and a long stroke.
